HC Deb 10 February 1970 vol 795 c320W
Mr. Younger

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the total rates receipts, including payments in lieu of rates, of Scottish local authorities in 1969–70; and what was the corresponding figure for 1968–69.

Mr. Ross

On the basis of information relating to 97.5 per cent. of Scottish rateable value the total estimated income in 1969–70 from rates, including payments in lieu of rates, amounts to about £175 million; the corresponding figure for 1968–69 was about £159 million.
