HC Deb 10 February 1970 vol 795 cc329-30W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will issue a distinctive form E.C.10 for use by doctors who prescribe within the National Health Service drugs which have not been passed by the Committee for Safety of Drugs.

Mr. Crossman

I deplore refusal by any firm to submit its products to the Committee on the Safety of Drugs, but I do not think it would be helpful to adopt my hon. Friend's suggestion.

Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will issue E.C.10 forms in a distinctive colour for use by general practitioners when prescribing drugs which can lead to addiction or dependence.

Dr. John Dunwoody

I understand that the possible need more readily to distinguish prescriptions for certain drugs of dependence is among the matters being considered by a sub-committee of the Advisory Committee on Drug Dependence.
