asked the Minister of Public Building and Works what was the value of output in the construction industry, at current prices, in 1949; and what were the equivalent figures for 1959 and 1969.

Mr. John Silkin

The value of output in 1949 was about £1,250 million and in 1959 £2,400 million. The figures for 1969 are not yet available but should be in the region of £4,650 million.

Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether he will make a statement on the current level of output in the construction industry.
