HC Deb 10 February 1970 vol 795 c329W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the regulations in force for the prevention of fires in bingo halls; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

My right hon. Friend proposes to introduce new legislation, when Parliamentary time permits, to strengthen and rationalise the law relating to fire precautions in certain residential establishments and places of public resort, including bingo halls. Meanwhile, the Gaming Act, 1968, empowers licensing authorities to refuse a licence if the fire precautions in a bingo hall are not satisfactory.
