HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 cc292-3W
Mr. Sheldon

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has now made of the amount of saving under Save As You Earn in the first year of operation and the amount from the inauguration of the scheme to the latest available date.

Mr. Taverne

It is too early yet to discern a pattern in the flow of new contracts on which to base a reliable estimate.

The amount collected so far has been £2,548,000 (£1,878,000 by D.N.S. up to 31st January; £670,000 by the trustee savings banks up to 31st December).
