asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has completed his inquiries into the practicability of child-proof tablet containers; and whether these are now freely available from pharmacists at no extra charge when a prescription is being made up.

Our consideration of this matter is not yet complete. There is no charge to patients for the containers in which medicines provided under the National Health Service are dispensed; but I think it unlikely that this type of container is at present used by chemists to any significant extent.
