Mr. Roebuck

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the number of officers in each Service, and each of the women's Services, who began in the ranks, and express each total as a percentage of the total number of officers.

Estimated figures, based on recent data, are shown for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, the Royal Air Force, and the corresponding Women's Services. I regret that the detail requested is not available for the Army.
