§ Mr. Andersonasked the Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning if, in advance of local government reorganisation, which by creating larger units will risk more teachers and public employees becoming ineligible for local government service, he will review the criteria for disqualification of such people.
§ Mr. CroslandAs explained in paragraph 78 of the White Paper on the reform of local government in England, the Government take the view that with the creation of fewer and larger authorities a liberalisation of the law on disqualification is desirable, and they propose to discuss the matter with local authorities and others concerned.
