HC Deb 05 February 1970 vol 795 c198W
Mr. Pounder

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will take steps to ensure that independent British airline operators do not play advertising jingles in in-flight musical transmissions on their aircraft.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

No. This is a matter for the commercial judgment of the airlines.

Mr. Pounder

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will give a general direction to British European Airways that it refrains from playing its advertising jingle in in-flight musical transmissions on its aircraft.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

No. This is a matter for B.E.A.'s commercial judgment but I gather that they do not play music during flights, only before take-off and after landing.
