§ 87. Mr. Robert Howarthasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if his new advice on planning control, Development Control Policy Note 11, Amusement Centres, to local authorities also includes licensed club premises, in view of the fact that these also impinge on nearby residential properties.
§ Mr. SkeffingtonPolicy Note 11 deals specifically with amusement centres and is not intended to apply to licensed club premises. More general guidance on nonresidential development in residential areas is given in Policy Note 2.
§ 88. Mr. Robert Howarthasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will reconsider his decision to allow the council to decide on a planning application for the building of a licensed club on Glenside Drive, Bolton, without requiring his approval, in view of the local objections and the nearness of such premises to residential property.
§ Mr. SkeffingtonNo. My right hon. Friend does not intervene in day-to-day planning control unless the circumstances are exceptional. Residents' objections were not overlooked, but this is essentially a local issue and, as such, for the local planning authority to decide. I understand that the council granted planning permission on 8th January, 1970.
