102. Mr. Blaker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the average annual level of stock accumulation for the period 1963 to 1969, inclusive, calculated at 1963 prices.

Mr. William Rodgers

The average annual increase in stocks for the period 1963 to 1969 inclusive (including for 1969 an estimate based on the first three quarters at an annual rate) is estimated at £290 million.

103. Mr. Blaker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the percentage of gross domestic product represented by stock accumulation in each of the years 1964 to 1969, inclusive.

Mr. William Rodgers

The value of the physical increase in stocks as a percentage of gross domestic product at factor cost in the calendar years 1964 to 1968 was 2.3, 1.3, 0.8, 0.6 and 0.6. Corresponding figures for 1969 are not yet available, but in the first three quarters of the year the percentage was 1.0 (not seasonally adjusted).
