HC Deb 02 February 1970 vol 795 c8W
52. Mr. Stratton Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs why the British delegate at the United Nations did not vote against the resolution blaming Israel for the burning of the A1 Aksa Mosque.

Mr. Foley

The resolution did not blame Israel for the burning of the Mosque. Indeed, the sponsors of the resolution specifically dissociated themselves from any accusation of Israel's complicity in the act of arson.

The resolution reiterated earlier resolutions for which we had voted, criticising Israel's actions in taking measures purporting to change the status of Jerusalem.
