HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 c521W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was for the latest and most convenient annual period of time the amount of money spent by the Government on motor tyres; and by how much the recently announced 9 per cent. to 12 per cent. increase in the price of tyres will increase the average amount spent on tyres by Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

Approximately £1.9 million for the year ended 31st March, 1970. The amounts for subsequent financial years will depend on the size of total requirements and on the result of competitive tender for new contracts to run from 1st April, 1971.
