HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 c494W
Mr. Powell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in respect of each of the last five years and of 1970 to the latest available date, how many persons have been admitted to the United Kingdom from South Africa on permits issued by the Union Government under the Departure from the Union Regulation Act, 1955; and to how many persons from South Africa he has issued certificates of identity.

Mr. Sharples

I regret that the information requested in the first part of the Question is not available. Since 13th February, 1969, 85 certificates of identity have been issued to persons of South African origin. The number issued before then is not readily available.
