§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the evidence submitted to him by the hon. Member for West Ham, North, regarding heavy tipper lorries being used without road fund licences, or insurance, and with defective tyres and false number plates, and generally evading the Road Traffic Acts he will take steps to initiate a special road spot check to discover the extent to which heavy tipper lorries are carrying on these illegal activities.
§ Mr. PeytonI am intensifying enforcement checks particularly on major construction sites and am taking other steps to discourage illegal operation.
