HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 cc462-3W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she will reconsider the 1972–73 allocation of primary school replacements amounting to £150,000 in the county of Derbyshire.

Mr. van Straubenzee

My right hon. Friend is satisfied that Derbyshire has a fair share of the resources available in 1972–73. Local education authorities have just been asked for their proposals for the following programme, which will be the second in a series designed to bring within sight the replacement or improvement of sub-standard 19th century primary schools for which there is a long-term need.

Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will meet a deputation from the Derbyshire Education Committee to discuss an increase in the allocation of resources for Derbyshire primary schools in order to restore the amount to its 1970–71 level.

Mr. van Straubenzee

My right hon. Friend will be glad to discuss Derbyshire's problems with representatives of the local education authority when she is in the county next month.
