HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 c457W
Mr. Laurance Reed

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what studies his Department has made of the causes of plankton blooms in British coastal waters, and of the changes these induce in the productivity of marine life in the area.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

The Shellfish Laboratory at Burnham-on-Crouch studied the plankton bloom which occurred in 1968 between the Firth of Forth and Bridlington, in collaboration with other laboratories. The results were published in "Nature" on 5th October, 1968. The area has since been monitored.
