§ Mr. HigginsThe Decimal Currency Board, which has the statutory responsibility for promoting arrangements for the adaptation or replacement of machines affected by decimalisation, informs me that its researches show progress with cash registers to be satisfactory. But it was never envisaged that all cash registers and other machines could be converted or replaced by D Day and, for this reason, there must be a change-over period of dual-currency working during which retailers can, if they wish, continue to trade in £ s. d.
