HC Deb 17 December 1970 vol 808 c427W
Mr. Haselhurst

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will raise in the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations the treatment of Jews in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Mr. Dykes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will raise in the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations the position of Jewish citizens of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and their treatment by the Soviet authorities.

Mr. Godber

I do not believe that any useful purpose would be served by our taking such an initiative now at the Human Rights Commission. The Soviet authorities are already fully aware of our views on this question which we have stated in the past at the United Nations.
