asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many public local inquiries on planning decisions there have been in Scotland in the last 10 years; what the cost has been to public funds; and in how many instances the Reporter's recommendations were accepted and rejected, respectively.

About 1,700 in about 5 per cent. of which the Reporters' recommendations have been partly or wholly rejected. The cost to Central Government funds has been about £93,000.
