HC Deb 17 December 1970 vol 808 cc443-4W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action he has taken to make the industrial potential of Hunterston known to industrialists in the United Kingdom, North America and SCOTLAND Europe.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The decision I announced last week on the zoning of land at Hunterston, and the possible implications of this decision for industrial development in Scotland, received wide publicity. The potential of Hunterston must be seen in a Scottish context; and the promotion of Scotland as a location for industry is presently receiving close attention from my hon. Friend, the Under-Secretary of State for Development.

Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the powers given to the West Central Steering Plan Committee actively to seek the location of industry at Hunterston.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The Committee is an advisory body and has no such powers.

Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the West Central Scotland Steering Plan Committee will consider his recently announced decisions on Hunterston.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The Committee arranges its own meetings and business.
