HC Deb 16 December 1970 vol 808 cc357-8W
116. Mr. Wilkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will now instruct the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Planning Council to initiate urgently a study into the most advantageous location for an international airport for the industrial West Riding of Yorkshire so that the region's local authorities have a basis upon which to harmonise their applications to his Department for airport development or expansion.

Mr. Graham Page

My right hon. Friend hopes that the local planning authorities in the region will confer together about the future air travel requirements of the region.

The Yorkshire and Humberside Economic Planning Council is currently giving further consideration to air travel facilities available to the region.
