Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of concern in parts of Lancashire and Cheshire that the existence of the South-East Lancashire/North-East Cheshire Passenger Transport Authority will prejudice the consideration of the proposed Metropolitan area contained in the Redcliffe Maude proposals, he will give an assurance that the Government will not regard the existence of an authority covering this area as a precedent during the consideration of the pending reorganisation of local government.
