HC Deb 16 December 1970 vol 808 cc368-9W
Mr. Hall-Davis

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will give a general direction to electricity boards that when programming load-shedding and power cuts horticulture should be considered on the same basis as industry.

Sir J. Eden

The programming arrangements of the boards depend very much on local circumstances, and there would be no point in directing boards to do what may not be practicable; but I understand that, generally speaking, horticulture has been treated in the same way as industrial undertakings drawing supplies from the low voltage networks.
