§ Mr. Tugendhatasked the Minister of State for Defence how many ships are currently under construction; and whether it is intended that the Royal Navy's strength, in terms of numbers of ships, should increase or diminish during the next five years.
§ Mr. KirkFourteen submarines and surface warships of frigate size and above are at present under construction for the Royal Navy. It would be contrary to normal practice to disclose the planned future strength of the Fleet.
