§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if the new Royal Free Hospital, now under construction and scheduled to open within the next two to three years, will have adequate access for disabled people in wheelchairs or using walking aids; if there will be sanitary and other necessary 301W facilities for such people within the building; what consultations he is having concerning the design of other hospital buildings now under construction; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. AlisonThe special requirements of disabled people have been taken into account in the design of this new hospital. Guidance on these requirements was given to hospital authorities in 1965, and their attention has recently been drawn to the relevant Sections of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act, 1970.
