Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the amount spent on principal roads in Cardiganshire in each of the years 1965 to 1969; and what is the estimate of expenditure on such roads in Cardiganshire for 1971.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The figures available are:

1965–66 £100,000 Class I Roads
1966–67 £105,000
1967–68 £163,000
1968–69 £173,000
1969–70 £175,000
1970–71 £205,000 (estimated)

I understand that the level of expenditure in 1971–72 has not yet been determined by the county council.
