HC Deb 15 December 1970 vol 808 c321W
Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government is in favour of the proposed creation of a United Nations fund for Namibia; and whether Her Majesty's Government will make a regular contribution to that fund on its establishment.

Mr. Godber

We see no need for a separate fund for South West Africa. The people of that territory qualify for assistance under existing funds, notably the United Nations Education and Training Programme for Southern Africa to which we already contribute generously. We abstained on the relevant resolution adopted by the General Assembly on 9th December.
