Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give a general direction to the National Bus Company to relax the obligation of minibus companies to make an operating profit of £8 million or more per annum in view of the financial difficulties experienced by bus operators in rural areas.

I am not aware of any obligation on minibus companies of the nature described by the hon. Member.
