HC Deb 15 December 1970 vol 808 c313W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the average provision of welfare homes for the aged per 1,000 head of population in Wales, inclusive of county boroughs; what is the comparable figure for Flintshire and for East Flintshire; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Thomas

Local authorities in Wales currently provide 6,431 places in homes for the aged. This provision represents 2.4, 2.1 and 0.5 places per thousand population in Wales, Flintshire and East Flintshire, respectively.

Flintshire County Council is building a home for 48 residents in Holywell and a further two, providing a total of 60 places, are planned for the next two years in East Flintshire.
