HC Deb 14 December 1970 vol 808 cc220-1W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is aware of the success achieved in Cardiganshire by the Talking Newspaper experiment by means of which a local weekly news service is available to blind persons who use the Talking Book Service; and if he will take steps through the Wales and Monmouthshire Council for the Blind to extend this work.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I am aware of the success of this experiment. The service is known in Wales to county and county borough councils, the statutory bodies concerned with the provision of welfare services for the blind, and it is for them to consider whether to introduce it in their own areas.
