HC Deb 14 December 1970 vol 808 c258W
Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has for the integration and co-ordination of road safety campaign spending by his Department, local authorities and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

Co-ordination with the Society already exists. Most local authorities obtain campaign material from the Society and accept guidance from its regional organisers. The Department provides advice and information to local authorities on its national campaign.

Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the annual amount spent by his Department's road safety publicity unit in 1969.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

In 1969 a total of £1,900. In addition the Department, in association with the Central Office of Information, undertakes a sustained campaign of paid road safety advertising and publicity, totalling about £1 million.
