HC Deb 14 December 1970 vol 808 c232W
83. Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many new factories of under 10,000 square feet were opened or under construction in Scotland from 1966 to 1970.

Mr. Anthony Grant

I regret that the information in the form asked for by the hon. Member is not available. Industrial development certificates were issued in Scotland during the period 1st January, 1966 to 30th November, 1970 for 82 new industrial buildings each with a floor area of between 5,000 and 10,000 square feet. Seven projects were however abandoned. Of the balance, 23 factories have yet to be completed and 52 have been completed and occupied. Eleven only of these completed factories have been occupied by incoming companies setting up in Scotland for the first time.
