HC Deb 14 December 1970 vol 808 cc248-9W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what action he proposes to take with regard to the decisions and resolutions of the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations, in particular Resolution 2145 of the General Assembly in 1966 and Resolution 269 of the Security Council in 1969, concerning the continued control of Namibia by South Africa.

Mr. Anthony Royle

None.

We abstained on the resolutions in question. The legal status of South-West Africa is, in our view, in doubt. The Security Council resolutions were not mandatory in effect.
