§ 86. Mr. Dellasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he is pursuing discussions with the Brewers Society of measures which would reduce the defects in the existing tied-house system along the lines discussed in paragraphs 398 to 405 of the Monopolies Commission's report on beer, or of other measures which might be expected to have a similar effect.
§ Mr. RidleyI have completed my discussions with the Brewers Society. My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has announced an inquiry into the licensing laws. As I said in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Oswestry (Mr. Biffen) on 9th December, the Brewers Society have issued a statement describing the steps they are taking to meet criticisms of the tied-house system made by the Commission.—[Vol. 808, c. 131–2.]
