HC Deb 14 December 1970 vol 808 c223W
32 and 33. Mr. Money

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (1) whether he will now consider employing a booster station to improve the reception of Radio 1 in the Ipswich area;

(2) whether he will now take steps to increase aerial kilowatt power on 247 metres to the Ipswich area to improve the reception there of Radio 1.

Mr. Chataway

The B.B.C. which is primarily responsible for the coverage of its services, tell me that to increase the power of one of the existing stations would create as many problems as it would cure. I have no plans at present to authorise the B.B.C. to establish a booster station at Ipswich.
