HC Deb 14 December 1970 vol 808 c251W
Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Secretary of Slate for Employment what steps he is taking to provide jobs for the employees made redundant by the closure of the factory of Winterthur Silks Limited in Dunfermline, Fife; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dudley Smith

I understand that a total of 59 men and 139 women are to lose their jobs as a result of the closure in January of the Dunfermline factory of Winterthur Silks Limited. Several inquiries have already been received from local firms and I am hopeful that most of the redundant workers will be able to find other jobs within a reasonable period. A job team has been interviewing at the factory and is giving every possible assistance.
