Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what discussions his officials have had recently with the chairman of the State Management District Council and the Carlisle and District State Management Advisory Committee; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if it is the Government's intention during the lifetime of the present Parliament to bring in amending legislation regarding the Carlisle and District State Management Scheme; and if he will make a statement.

The Chairman of the State Management Districts Council is himself a Home Office official. Officials have had no discussion recently with the Chairman of the Carlisle and District State Management Advisory Committee except in the ordinary course of the Committee's affairs. My right hon. Friend has no statement to make at present of the Government's intentions towards the the Scheme.
