§ Mr. Juddasked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will make a progress report on inter-Service rationalisation of servicing and maintenance of vehicles and other equipment, with particular reference to naval and army facilities in the Portsmouth area.
§ Mr. Ian GilmourConsiderable progress has been made in the inter-Service rationalisation of maintenance and repair of various types of equipment. Rationalisation schemes for the maintenance and repair of vehicles have been introduced in various stations at home and overseas in order to achieve economies and to enable the Services to make the best use of each other's workshop facilities. The arrangements in the Portsmouth area are currently under examination.
