HC Deb 10 December 1970 vol 808 c184W
92. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will initiate discussions with the Trades Union Congress and the Confederation of British Industry to work out agreed policies of curbing inflation.

Mr. Higgins

Discussions have already been held with both the Trades Union Congress and the Confederation of British Industry and will continue from time to time, in particular through the N.E.D.C.

93. Mr. Sheldon

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proposals he has for a Ministerial broadcast on the subject of inflation.

Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider giving a monthly Ministerial television broadcast on the state of the economy, with particular reference to Her Majesty's Government's policies on inflation.

Mr. Barber

I have no present plans for either a special Ministerial broadcast, or series of such broadcasts, on inflation and the state of the economy. The Government's policies have been and will continue to be made known by the usual methods.
