HC Deb 10 December 1970 vol 808 cc150-1W
34. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what progress has been made in extending the scope of industrial re-training in the last six months; and what are the prospects for 1971–72.

Mr. Bryan

A new Government training centre opened at Stoke-on-Trent in October, and two more will open at Basildon and at Twickenham this month. The number of Government-supported trainees at colleges of further education has also increased. In 1971–72 four more Government training centres are to be opened, and the scope of industrial retraining will be extended by the measures announced by my right hon. Friend in his reply to my hon. Friend the Member for the High Peak (Mr. Le Marchant) on 4th November.—[Vol. 805, c. 383–4.]
