HC Deb 10 December 1970 vol 808 cc158-9W
63. Mr. Thorpe

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what instructions have been given to his officials with regard to special classification for immigrants at local offices; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Bryan

The Government are determined to promote equal opportunity in employment for all and, in doing so, it is necessary to know the extent and location of unemployed coloured immigrants. This is why my staff identify all coloured unemployed who were born overseas or whose parents were born overseas. A Select Committee of this House accepted that such information is essential.
