HC Deb 10 December 1970 vol 808 c177W
Mr. Money

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many accused persons have been held in custody in England and Wales during the last full year for which figures are available for a period of more than three months on criminal charges on which they were ultimately acquitted.

Mr. Carlisle

In 1969, 105 persons who were subsequently acquitted or discharged were held in custody for 11 weeks or more on remand or awaiting trial.
