§ Mr. John Pageasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give instructions to Her Majesty's Customs and Excise that after 1st January next timber importers shall be allowed to present documents in Imperial as well as metric measure; and on what grounds he has given instructions that only metric should be used.
§ Mr. HigginsMetric units for measurement of timber will be introduced in the Customs Tariff and Overseas Trade classi-144W fication from 1st January, 1971 in response to the wishes of the industries concerned. It is not feasible to allow consignments to be declared in units different from those specified for the particular goods.
