HC Deb 07 December 1970 vol 808 c37W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will reconsider his plans for the reduction or phasing-out of cereal deficiency payments in the light of the detrimental effects this will have on agriculture in the West of England.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

No. It is the Government's policy that growers should receive increasingly larger shares of their total return on cereals from the market and become progressively less reliant upon deficiency payments.
