HC Deb 03 December 1970 vol 807 c459W
82. Sir E. Bullus

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consultations he has had with the Government of the United States of America with a view to arranging reciprocal benefits under the National Health scheme for the respective nationals of each country.

Mr. Dean

There is at present no scope for a reciprocal arrangement between the National Health Service and the United States schemes of hospital insurance and medical insurance for pensioners and elderly people. Apart from a system of medical assistance for poor people, these two insurance schemes are the only United States Government schemes providing medical or hospital treatment.
