HC Deb 03 December 1970 vol 807 cc433-4W
46. Mr. Prentice

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will now reconsider his decision to withdraw the police road safety teams from their work in the schools in the light of recent representations by local authorities and other interested bodies that visits by the local police will not be an adequate substitute for these expert teams.

Mr. Sharples

It is for chief officers of police to decide how best to deploy the resources available to them; and it seems premature to condemn the new arrangements in the Metropolitan Police district, which are not to be introduced until next July.
