70. Mr. Urwin

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from the construction industry following his decision not to introduce legislation on labour-only sub-contracting; and what replies he has sent.

Mr. Amery

I have received letters from the Trades Union Congress, the National Federation of Building Trades Employers, the Federation of Master Builders, the Federation of Associations of Specialists and Sub-Contractors, the Committee of Associations of Specialists Engineering Contractors and the Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunication Union—Plumbing Trade Union commenting variously on my announcement of the decision not to introduce legislation. Where necessary, I have sent appropriate replies.
