HC Deb 02 December 1970 vol 807 cc394-5W
Mr. Gourlay

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will call for a report from the chief constable on the number of resignations from the police force in the county of Fife in each of the years 1967, 1968 and 1969, respectively, and as to what percentage of the resignations were due to inadequacy of salary.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The numbers of officers voluntarily resigning from Fife Constabulary before qualifying for pension in 1967, 1968 and 1969 were 34, 36 and 28, of whom 68 per cent, 19 per cent. and 46 per cent. respectively, stated that they were leaving for more remunerative employment.
