Cmnd. 4234; identifying at the same time the upward revision in the estimates of £88 million for 1971–72 and the downward revision of £125 million stated by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on November 4.

(a) In Cmnd. 4234 of December, 1969, shortfall (other than on nationalised industries' capital expenditure) was anticipated at £50 million for 1970–71 and nil for 1971–72. The amount now anticipated for 1971–72 has been estimated in the light of continued experience of shortfall in recent years.
